With mutual support and affirmation, The Women's Group will celebrate twenty-five years of community with First UU. We are most grateful for a "room of our own" - The Sojourner Truth Room - and recognize the "staying power" of having a home in this community of validations and possibilities!

We recognize that feminism is global, and therefore dedicate our forum monthly to the voices of international women and their journeys. Their voices are reflective in the membership of our Iranian, Asian, Polish, Trinidadian, South African, and Peruvian members and leaders.

We create innovative leadership inclusiveness through new events as The Book Group (Anne Knowlton), Women's Financial Empowerment (Laura Reich), Golfing with Feminists (Tanya Marie), and A Woman's View - Feminist radio KPFT (Lilian Care).

We commit to change locally through political activism with programs and speakers: Cindy Clifford, Liaison to the Mayor for Women's Issues; City Controller Judge Sylvia Garcia; and Dr. Kathryn Peek with the Mayor's Summit on Women.

Lilian Care and Laura Reich are representatives to Program Council and provide a clear connection with the church. The Women's Group has increased our annual pledge from $2,000 to $2,500, and we are committed to the remaining $600 of our capital pledge by year 2000.

Our visions are as diverse and transforming as the women we are becoming, and the commonalities are celebrating and transcending our differences by be-ing-with our voices, our will, our money, and our vote.
